Writers on the Avenue is sponsoring three scholarships for interested members to attend the Society of Great River Poets’ annual Creativity Camp at Langwood Education Center near Grandview, Iowa, on May 19 – 21, 2017. This is a weekend of workshops, community, and interaction with nature designed to restore and rev up your creative energy, no matter what kind of creative you are.
Planned workshops include Creating with Dream, Archetype, and Myth; Canvas Pad Creations; Writing the Book Review; Basic Book Binding; The Handwritten Letter: A Lost Art; The Not-Necessarily Serious Sestina; and more. Each workshop lasts 60 – 90 minutes.
When not in workshops, participants are free to walk the trails, canoe the pond, or enjoy the campfire. Meals are pot-luck style. Participants can commute, take their own tent or camper, or sleep in the bunkhouse.
Scholarships will cover registration and tuition for two full days of workshops. To apply, submit your name, contact information, and a short, informal essay of 250 words (one page) or less answering these two questions:
- What do you do for fun or enrichment, or would do if you could?
- Why do you want to attend the Creativity Camp, and how do you think it will help you attain or improve #1?
Please submit your application using the contact form below. Active (dues-paying) WOTA members will have priority consideration. Creativity Camp attendees must be at least 18 years of age. For more information about the Creativity Camp or to register immediately, visit the Society of Great River Poets webpage. Let your creativity flow!
